Winner of last year's Oldbury Wells Sports Awards Special Recognition Award, super swimmer Jack Haynes, has had a very eventful time in the pool over recent months. Since last summer, the Year 10 student has taken part in a three-day training camp at Cardiff International Pool and taken part in competitions at Chase Swimming Club in Walsall, City of Leicester Swimming Club and Wolverhampton Swimming Club, gaining many personal bests, medals and Top Boy awards to round off 2018. The new year started with the first Long Course event of the season – the City of Derby meet at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. More personal bests here! Jack then attended a further training camp at Cardiff. A series of events followed in which Jack took several more medals: Junior Championships, County Cups and personal bests! He also managed to smash the two minute barrier for the 200m Free – no mean feat for a 15 year old. The national qualification window will be opening soon. Jack has events at Luton, Millfield School (Glastonbury) and Cardiff to look forward to, plus the West Midlands Regional Championships over two weekends in Coventry.
Good luck Jack and congratulations on your sporting successes!
