COVID Vaccinations

On Wednesday 26th January, the Immunisation Team will be visiting to vaccinate students against COVID-19.

If you would like your child to be vaccinated, please download and complete the consent form, then return it to East or West Reception by Friday 21st January at the latest.

Consent forms returned after this deadline will not be accepted.

A paper copy of the consent form should be returned - please do not email the consent form into school, as this will not be accepted.

If you have not got access to a printer, please email school@oldburywells.com, so we can provide your child with a paper copy of the form.

They must be 12 years old or over on Wednesday 26th January to receive the vaccine.

Your child cannot have the vaccine if:

  • They have returned a positive PCR test since 3rd November
  • They have received their first dose of the COVID vaccine since 3rd November

Any children who received their first dose of the vaccine in school on 13th October will be able to have their second dose on Wednesday 26th January.

Any children who received their first dose of the vaccine in school on 16th November will NOT be able to have their second dose on Wednesday 26th January.

If your child is aged 16 or over, they can also receive the vaccine in school.

We still require the consent form to be returned for students aged 16 or over, so the Immunisation Team are aware of the amount of vaccines to bring with them.

The Covid-19 vaccine letter and FAQs provided further information.

HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS (HPV) 2 DOSE VACCINATION

The HPV vaccine which protects against several types of cancer is being offered to Year 8 children at school on Tuesday 11th January. To get the best protection, two doses are required under the age of 15. The second injection will be usually offered 6 to 12 months after the first. The school will let you know when the second dose will be given. The leaflet ‘Protecting against HPV infection to help reduce your risk of cancer’ (Public Health England 2019), includes more information about the vaccine. Please discuss this with your son or daughter, then complete this form and return it to the school by Monday 10th January at the latest. Only paper copies of the form will be accepted – please do not email. Information about the vaccinations will be uploaded on your child’s health records. If you have any questions, please contact the Immunisation Team.
