Students reflect on Armistice Day

Year 9 students placed poppies around our Centenary tree on remembrance day, to reflect and remember those who fought and gave their lives in the wars.

Today, on Remembrance Day, our school paused in a two-minute silent reflection, to respect and commemorate those who fought and lost their lives during World War One, and in conflicts since. Mr Perfect’s Year 9 class helped us to mark the event, by placing poppies by our Remembrance tree. Mr Grainger from History led a small service with the students and the Headteacher Mr Tristham, reciting the poem Flounders Fields, as we remembered.

In other years, students in History worked on projects around Remembrance Day, creating artwork using poppies, some with information and facts, other with key quotes or poetry, but all with Remembrance in mind. There are a few examples below, but our full range will feature in our Oldbury Wells Christmas Journal.

Lest we forget.
